ESPP Announces 2022 ERIES Initiative Awardees

March 2, 2023

The Environmental Science and Policy Program (ESPP) at Michigan State University is pleased to announce the awardees for the inaugural Environmental Research, Innovation and Engagement Startup (ERIES) initiative. The ERIES funding opportunity was established in 2022. ERIES is designed and funded by ESPP through our Fate of the Earth Endowment to promote new collaboration among faculty researchers from different disciplines to tackle environmental challenges with innovative approaches and to foster engagement with the public, with the goal of enhancing our capacity to grow interdisciplinary scholarship and to compete for external grants in environmental science and policy. ERIES provides $10K to each team to carry out new research activities that will help to advance environmental research, education or community engagement.

An interdisciplinary panel reviewed the proposals that were submitted to this initiative in December 2022 and recommended the following two teams to be funded this year.

Please join us in congratulating the two interdisciplinary teams led by ESPP-affiliated faculty members Dr. Nathan Moore from the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences, and Dr. Bei Fan from the Department of Mechanical Engineering as the 2022 ESPP ERIES initiative awardees.
