The Environmental Science and Policy Program (ESPP) at Michigan State University has established a new Student Leadership Council. The goal of the council is to enhance student engagement in ESPP programming. The Student Leadership Council will be a student-led organization that will primarily oversee student activities at ESPP such as the annual ESPP Fall Student Research Symposium, the ESPP Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series, and other student gatherings and cohort building activities.
The Student Leadership Council will also serve as an additional channel for gathering student feedback on all aspects of ESPP, including research, teaching, outreach, student funding, networking, etc. “We feel that the SLC will play an important role in shaping the future of ESPP that will help to build the community and strengthen our program,” said Lifeng Luo, ESPP Interim Director.
The initial cohort of Student Leadership Council members includes Brockton Feltman (Department of Community Sustainability), Jing Zhou (School of Planning, Design and Construction), and Tiffany Williams (Sociology Department).
