BIOGRAPHY

Zachary Curtis is a water resource engineer and the co-founder of Hydrosimulatics INC., a small business spin-off from Michigan State University (MSU) that specializes in the development of web-based environmental software and online educational resources for the water science & engineering community. Zach completed dual Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science and Policy from MSU in December 2018. His research focused on groundwater resource issues across Michigan, especially the salinization of shallow groundwater due to the natural up welling of deep brines (hypersaline groundwater) with human activities (pumping of near-surface groundwater). He also holds a M.S. in Environmental Engineering and a B.S. in Astrophysics, both from MSU.  Zach has been a member of the Michigan Chapter of SWCS since 2017 and has served as the Region 2 Director and Scholarship Committee Chair for the past three years.
