BIOGRAPHY

Tian (Autumn) Qiu is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at MSU. She received her Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Minnesota in 2018 and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2022 as a Beckman Postdoctoral Fellow. With tools from analytical chemistry, toxicology, microbiology and neuroscience, the Qiu lab is interested in elucidating the chemical basis of environment-host-microbe interactions with an emphasis on the microbiome-gut-brain axis.

AREA OF EXPERTISE

Dr. Qiu's lab focuses on using cutting-edge analytical chemistry tools to investigate the molecular mechanisms of the interactions among environmental contaminant exposure, microbiome, and animals. The lab's expertise includes mass spectrometry, microbiology, toxicity assays and animal studies (C. elegans and rodents).
