BIOGRAPHY
Marinna Guzy is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on the human dimensions of environmental change in the context of freshwater systems. She investigates how researchers can engage in ethical, equitable partnerships with communities—particularly Indigenous communities—by examining the power dynamics embedded in data collection, knowledge production, and research dissemination. Drawing on critical theories of power and her background in storytelling and multimodal media, she explores how environmental research can more effectively serve the public good. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Vassar College and an M.F.A. in Sound Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She has created work for the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage and The Nature Conservancy, and her sound design appears in over 20 films and exhibits.
